About
Orlando Gili (b.1984, Britain) is an award-winning portrait and documentary photographer, creating direct and beautiful images, often with a playful sense of humour. Orlando is drawn to complimentary colours and a clean pared back aesthetic, using the camera to bring order to a disorganized world. Gili’s personal work explores recurring themes – the different ways people come together socially, celebrating eccentricity and individual self-expression, and giving attention to often lessor photographed subjects. Underpinning all his work is a belief, that deep down we are all the same.
The photographer’s images have featured in Guardian Saturday, The Sunday Times Magazine, FT Weekend, Telegraphy Luxury and Timeout. Gili has had three books published: Trivial Pursuits - The English at Play “a humane portrait of a nation not only unwinding but navigating its history and place in today’s world” (CNN). An Opinionated Guide To London Pubs and Que Sera, Sera “I cannot think of a better book on football in the UK” (Martin Parr).
